What You'll Need

– white sauerkraut  – bone broth – onion – sausage – all-purpose flour – oil or lard for frying

Step 1

Place sour cabbage and broth in a large pot. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. Add bay leaf, caraway seeds, and allspice.

Step 2

Add diced onion to a heated frying pan with oil or lard. Fry for a few minutes, then add the sausage. 

Step 3

After few minutes, sprinkle with flour while stirring to create ‘roux’ – a paste-like substance. 

Step 4

Finally, sprinkle with sweet paprika. Mix thoroughly and let cool off before transferring to a soup pot.
